All health professionals must have their professional registration and fitness to practice / licence to practise checked with the relevant regulatory body.
This documented process details the steps required for recruitment agencies to ensure:
- That the individual is actively registered to carry out the proposed role with the relevant professional body.
- That there are no restrictions on their registration that may affect the duties proposed.
- That the individual is fit to practice and is not being / has not been investigated by the regulatory body.
It also covers the checks that need to be made when recruiting healthcare professionals from the European Union and EAA countries and promotion of voluntary registers.
The policy also provides the process for validating qualifications for workers where they have not been checked by the relevant proffessional regulatory body as part of their registration or practitioners working in non-regulated health and care occupations.
