This Freedom of Information policy template (also known as Public Interest Dislosure) is written in line with the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Although companies that are not public authorities do not meet the necessary criteria for inclusion under the act, it may be necessary to have a FOI policy in order to supply to public authorities and you are often asked to provide this in recruitment tenders. Tenders also often require a section on this topic to be completed, outlining any elements of a tender which should be treated as confidential. Such information is likely to include but may not be limited to pricing, candidate CVs and information, staff CVs and information, client names, client information, case studies and examples, and business continuity/disaster recovery information.
This template details the procedure for responding to a request under the Freedom of Information Act including the timescales for response. It also details exemptions, i.e. the circumstances when a request under the Act may be refused.
